A Qatar Adventure!

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit a country that was so far off my radar I had no idea what to expect. Qatar, located in Western Asia surrounded by the Persian Gulf is one of the wealthiest countries in the region. The city of Doha looks like something out of Star Wars, but the strange thing is, there is hardly anybody there! I continued to observe this emptiness as I explored the area more. It was kind of creepy really. The whole city was like an abandoned theme park! Everything was brand new, state of the art, but the population is just not there. It’s as if they abide by the philosophy “if we build it, they will come”. The only exception was the mall after 10pm on a Thursday night. Thursday is Qatar’s equivalent to Friday, and there’s nothing like a good walk through the Mall after a long week. Thank goodness it’s Thursday!

I love exploring new places and experiences different cultures, and that is exactly what this trip was all about. I went dune bashing in the desert, swimming in the inland sea, sat on a camel, and eat some incredible meals. All and all I’d say it was a pretty great trip. My world just got a bit smaller…:)

I’ve had a blast these past few weeks out on a radio tour promoting my latest single “Get It Right”. It’s so much fun because it doesn’t feel like work. It feels like I’m on a wicked road trip and I get to visit all of my friends! I’m sure it wouldn’t feel this way if the good folks at radio weren’t such great, amazing people, but they are! I get to travel around, catch up with friends and play music. A pretty good gig I’d say. That’s right! My self-titled EP is done and will be hitting the iTunes shelves worldwide on January 28th! I would like to send out a special acknowledgement and thank you to all the player on this record, and my extremely talented and patient producer John Ellis. You put up with my perfectionist ways and worked tirelessly to help make my dreams a reality and for that, I thank you. This EP has been a labour of love and I can’t wait to share it with everyone!

Dreaming of a White Christmas

Merry Christmas!

Christmas is a week away and I can’t wait! To get in the spirt of the holidays I shot a little christmas video to share with you all. “White Christmas” is one of my favourite christmas songs, but living in Vancouver a white christmas is actually quite rare. Every year I dream of waking up christmas morning, pulling back the curtains to find loads of fluffy white stuff covering the world like a blanket! Unfortunately, it has been a few years since we’ve seen that around here. Nevertheless, I’ll be dreaming of it!

I can’t believe it! The 36th Annual BC Country Music Association Awards were held this past Sunday night and I am so honoured to have been awarded the Ray McAuley Horizon Award!
